Excerpt: A major study on the state of early childhood education in Canada ranks Prince Edward Island’s early childhood education second in the country, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Alan McIsaac. “We are very encouraged by this national recognition of our commitment to early childhood education,” said Mr. McIsaac. “Working closely with the early childhood community, we have accomplished much in a short period, including the establishment of a school-based kindergarten program which is delivered by early childhood educators.” The Prince Edward Island Preschool Excellence Initiative continued with the introduction of Early Years Centers, with all trained staff, regulated parent fees, parent advisory committees and a provincial early learning framework.
